About the event
Youth Mental Health First Aid offers early-intervention education courses for adults who work with adolescents that increase mental health literacy and teach the practical skills needed to support a young person, experiencing a mental health problem. The course is for adults working or living with adolescents (those aged between 12 and 18 years), however, the course can be relevant for those helping people who are a little younger or older.
Using a practical, evidence-based action plan, Youth MHFA teaches participants how to support an adolescent until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves. Topics covered include:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Panic Attacks
- Eating disorders
- Suicidal thoughts and behaviours
